Food writing used to be limited to restaurant reviews and cookbook recipes. However, eating is a sensual experience in which all humans engage, so it’s no surprise that food writing has grown to include food science, food history, food politics, food culture and identity, and so on. With such a smorgasbord a writer has many options to use food writing to cultivate freelance writing opportunities, and for memoirists, as a way to harvest the area of the brain where memories are stored – the hippocampus. In this session we will explore how to get your food writing cooking.
