When it comes to creative nonfiction, memories are the embers we foster to create roaring work. This talk for beginning to intermediate writers will explore ways in which we can organize our memories to create writing with strong imagery and narrative. Through the use of timelines, outlines, and other tools, we can look at our memories analytically to find narrative arcs, connected images, and overarching themes. We will also discuss ways in which we can generate material, and how we can use memories themselves as prompts to expand on the material we have.
